Today I was working on an e-mail list for the forthcoming "Good Morning Lowcountry" -- THE BOOK -- when I wrote to this wretched pirate (who allegedly does something legitimate in Columbia during the day and plunders foreign ships by night off the S.C. coast) to see if he was still pillaging and drinking rum ... or if he'd been swung from a yardarm or keel-hauled or something.
I misssed Talk Like A Pirate Day on Sept. 19 this year, although I think I might have said "arggh" at some point.
Anyway, here is the exchange:
Are you still talking like a pirate?I wanted to tell you and your crewmates in terror on the high seas that I've written a Good Morning Lowcountry book! It will be out in February and I'll let you know when.
Yours in hopes that the rum never runs out,
Voodoo Lizzie
Dear Voodoo Lizzie,
Avast there, ye wench!
Me heart is truly warmed to see yer signal. I had greatly missed the GMLC and am happy to learn of your upcoming book. Yes, I'm still par-lay-vooing in Piratese whenever I can get away with it.
I had a fine Talk Like A Pirate Day last month (it arrived on a Saturday, as best I can recall).
All my best on the upcoming book. Keep yer powder dry and yer lips wet.
